Today, the area is also marked by it’s history in largely hosting historically non-parisians from other areas of France such as Brittany or from Italy. Many skilled in artisan craftmanship and smelting metal, who on the weekends would attend the local dance clubs on Rue de Lappe, dancing the Java, a fast type of waltz, and its cabrettes, often associated with diatonic accordians of the Italians.
